Vols Roll Through Day 1 of Regionals

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Six Vols advanced in singles, along with all three doubles teams, Thursday to start the ITA Ohio Valley Championships at Goodfriend Tennis Center.

One round of doubles followed by two rounds of singles will be played Friday at Goodfriend Tennis Center and Knoxville Racquet Club. Admission is free. Parking at Goodfriend is available in Lot SC-40 off Cumberland Avenue.

In singles, six of the seven players competing for UT moved on to the round of 64, with five winning in straight sets over their opponents. Tennessee's three seeded players, Timo Stodder (2), Scott Jones (11) and Adam Walton (20), all advanced.

Luca Wiedenmann and Andrew Rogers will both face seeded, SEC opponents in singles Friday.

The Vols' three doubles teams got off to a winning start and into the round of 32. All three teams will play a seeded opponent to start Friday.

Touliatos and Walton, who won a tournament title at Princeton earlier this fall, are now 4-0 this season and will face top-seeded Lachlan McPhee and Billy Rowe of Vanderbilt.
