Tennessee Lands 11 on the Easton NFCA Scholar-Athlete List

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Tennessee softball had 11 players named to the 2016-17 Easton/National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division I Scholar-Athlete list, which was announced on Tuesday. The list recognized student-athletes for the 2016-17 academic year.
As a team, the Lady Vols earned 2016-17 Easton NFCA Division I All-Academic Team honors with a 3.32 GPA. UT was one of 149 teams in NCAA Division I to earn the recognition.
The following players were recognized:
Caylan Arnold
Mary Beth Brumit
Meghan Gregg
Cailin Hannon
Jenna Holcomb
Savannah Huffstetler
Aubrey Leach
Abby Lockman
Matty Moss
Shelby Robinson
Chelsea Seggern
In all, over 7,300 student-athletes were recognized. NCAA Division I led the way with 1,843 student-athletes earning a 3.50 grade-point average or higher, while 1,825 in Division III garnered recognition followed by 1,268 Division II student-athletes. High School weighted and High School unweighted posted 751 and 609 honorees apiece. NAIA amassed 559 recipients and Junior College totaled 496.
In May, Gregg earned a spot on the 2016-17 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-American® third team recognized for her combined performance athletically and in the classroom. Gregg finished with a 3.50 GPA in Kinesiology and was a member of the inaugural VOLeaders Academy in 2016.
