KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- In today’s countdown profile we’ll meet Mady Hairston, a freshman from the pacific northwest.
Need to Know
Hairston joins the Vols after a successful prep career at Grant High School in Portland, Ore., where she earned Class 6A All-State honors in 2012, 2013 and 2014. She helped lead the Generals to three consecutive Portland Interscholastic League (PIL) Championships from 2012-14 and played club soccer for Tualatin Hills United, helping them win the 2014 Oregon Premier League State Championship. Hairston also guided Tualatin Hills to a runner-up finish at the U.S. Club National Tournament in 2014. The 5-7 forward was invited to attended U.S. Women’s National Team U-17 and U-19 camps in 2013 and 2015.
Hairston comes from an extremely athletic family that has produced numerous Major League Baseball players. Her older sister Alex played soccer at Purdue from (2011-14) and her other older sister, Juliana, is currently a senior for the Boilermakers. Mady chose Tennessee over Michigan, Maryland and Washington. Check out her entire bio HERE.

Fun Fact: Mady has numerous family members who have played Major League Baseball. Her family has had more MLB players than any other family in the history of baseball, and is one of two families with three generations of MLB players.

Favorite Soccer Memory: Going to ECNL camp at the Nike campus. It was a lot of fun!
Hobbies: I just like hanging out with friends.
Hidden talent: I can play piano by ear just by listening to a song then playing the tune.
If not soccer, what sport? Basketball or Volleyball
Dream job outside of soccer: A doctor or a job that involves traveling the world.
Most embarrassing soccer moment: When I was younger I went the wrong direction and almost scored on my own team.
Favorite Thing About Tennessee: The campus and athletic facilities. They are amazing!
