KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Next up on our player list is the first Tennessee native on this season's countdown, redshirt senior Kiah Allen.
Need to Know
This will be Allen's third and final season on Rocky Top after spending her first two years at UNC Greensboro. Allen saw significant action during her first season with the Vols, playing in 16 games and starting 10 during the 2014 season. She scored her first collegiate goal in her first start on September 7 against Tulsa and also converted a penalty kick during UT's shootout win over Florida in the 2014 SEC Tournament quarterfinals. Allen only saw action in four games last season because of a deep group of defenders but will have a chance to compete for significant minutes on the back line this year with the departure of two starters from last season.
Prior to joining the Volunteers, Allen spent two years at UNC Greensboro. The Knoxville native played in 16 games and started 14 for the Spartans in 2013 after redshirting in 2012. Allen, along with current Vols' goalkeeper Jamie Simmons helped UNCG post nine shutouts and finish 10-6-4 in 2013 before transferring to Tennessee for the 2014 season.
Allen also had a record-breaking prep career, leading Christian Academy of Knoxville to three state championships in four years while scoring a school-record 116 goals. She earned all-state honors from 2009-11 and was selected as the Knoxville PrepXtra Player of the Year as a senior.
Get to Know Kiah!
Fun Fact: Kiah loves all Disney movies and can drink a water bottle in less than eight seconds.
Favorite Food: Mexican
Favorite Movie: Brave
Favorite Musical Artist: Anything country. I love Zac Brown Band!
Celebrity Crush: Beyoncé, hands down.
Favorite Soccer Memory: The 2014 SEC Tournament
Hobbies: Enjoying the simple things in life, like days off...
If not soccer, what sport? I would like to think I would be super cool and play basketball or something, but I'm not tall enough.
Most embarrassing soccer moment: Well it had been really cold at practice for about a month, and leave it to Tennessee weather to be bipolar. We finally had a hot day and I wore our training tank top. When I went to raise my hand up for our pre-practice cheer I noticed that I hadn't shaved my armpits for a good month and right when I noticed it, so did everyone else, including the coaches.
Favorite Thing About Tennessee: I love being back home and playing for where I grew up. I have been a Vol my whole life and I get goose bumps every time I step foot on the field for a Friday or Sunday game. The atmosphere is something that no other college has and I love it.
Next On the Countdown
Tomorrow we'll get to know more about an integral cog on the Vols' back four, redshirt junior Kathryn Culhane.
