KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Today we meet the first newcomer on this season’s countdown, freshman midfielder Claire Franks.
Need to Know
Franks comes to Tennessee by way of Richmond, Va., following a successful prep career at Godwin High School, where she led the Eagles to their first state title and was named a Virginia Class 5A first-team all-state performer as a senior. Franks amassed 38 goals and 48 assists during her career at Godwin and was also named the Colonial District and Central Region Player of the Year in 2015 after leading the Eagles to a 19-2-1 record and a state semifinal appearance. She played club soccer for Richmond United in 2015, helping them win the Jefferson Cup Championship Division Title. Prior to joining Richmond United, Franks was a member of the Richmond Kickers Elite team that earned back-to-back Virginia State Cup runner-up finishes in 2013 and 2014. Franks chose Tennessee over
