KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- In today’s player profile we’ll get to know more about one of the Vols’ leaders in the midfield, redshirt junior Michele Christy.
Need to Know
Christy is one of the most experienced players on this year’s team, only trailing Hannah Wilkinson, Emily Morrow and Cali Hutson in career games played. If not for a season-ending injury in the Vols’ season opener last season, Christy would be the active leader in career games played. The Loveland, Ohio native played in all but one game during her first two seasons on Rocky Top. Her best season came in 2014 as a sophomore when she scored her first-career goal to help Tennessee defeat Alabama to start the team’s improbable run to the SEC Tournament semifinals. Christy also recorded all three of her career assists during the 2014 season.
Christy also boasts an impressive resume off the field. She is one of the top students on the team while majoring in chemical engineering and is also a member of the VOLeaders Academy and one of the team’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) representatives.
