No. 21 Vols Round Out Top 10 at Darius Rucker

HILTON HEAD, SC -- The No. 21 ranked Tennessee women’s golf program carded 301 in the third round of the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate, bringing their team score total to 888 dropping the Big Orange one spot in the final standings (10th). No. 15 Anna Newell led the Volunteers in the tournament with a seven-over 220, tying for 17th place individually.
No. 4 Alabama maintained control of the lead throughout the final round, concluding the tournament with a score of 868. Cheyenne Knight of Alabama claimed medalist honors with an even 213. She was the only player to finish the tournament even with par.
Newell stayed consistent throughout the tournament, posting dual scores of 73 in the first and second round and 74 in the fourth round. She did not drop out of the top 25, concluding the tournament tied for 17th place. The finish marks her fifth top 20 placement of the season.
With an even par, third round, Lucia Polo moved up 27 spots to tie for 26th place (+9). Polo carded 15 of her 33 pars on Sunday.
Freshman Shannon Brooks tied for 45th place (+13) and Hannah Pietila posted 79 in the round to tie for 55th place.
With a day three score of 77, Blakesly Warren ended the tournament in a four-way tie for 70th place.
