Overstreet Drives in Four in Win over St. John's

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Lexi Overstreet continued her hot streak at the plate with her fifth home run of the season and four RBIs to lead No. 16 Tennessee to a 11-2 run-rule win over St. John's on Saturday afternoon at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium.
Erin Gabriel improved to 8-2 on the year after taking a no-hitter into the fifth inning as the Red Storm recorded all four of their hits and both runs in the top of the fifth. The senior righty finished with six strikeouts for the game.
The Vols jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the second inning thanks to a bases-clearing double by Megan Geer, who was credited with two RBIs on the play after an error by the center fielder allowed the third run to score.
Overstreet added to the Tennessee lead with a 3-run blast to straight away center field in the third inning. It was the second homer of the weekend and fifth of the season for the senior from Suwanee, Ga.
UT kept motoring along in the fourth with another five runs to increase the lead to 11. After the Vols loaded the bases with nobody out, Meghan Gregg singled to center field to bring home the first two runs of the frame. A double by Shaliyah Geathers and a single by Rainey Gaffin brought in another pair of runs before Overstreet recorded her fourth RBI of the afternoon with a sacrifice fly.
St. John's (7-7) broke up Gabriel's no-hitter and the shutout in the fifth with a pair of runs. The Big Orange have scored at least 10 runs in all three games this weekend and eight times already this season. Geer and Gregg also recorded multi-RBI games as Tennessee earned its third straight run-rule victory.
The Vols finished round-robin play as the No. 1 seed and will play the No. 4 seed Green Bay in today's first semifinal. First pitch will be at 3 p.m. with live stats available at UTSports.com
