Need to Know
The Volunteers are making their third SEC Tournament appearance under Pensky and 18th overall in program history. In their last appearance in 2014, UT made a run to the semifinals before falling to No. 17 Kentucky, 3-2. The Big Orange shut out No. 10 seed Ole Miss on Monday and will look to earn another semifinal berth with a win on Wednesday over the tournament's No. 2 seed Auburn.
The Vols and Tigers squared off less than a week ago in the regular-season finale for both teams with Auburn earning a 3-1 victory at home.
SEC Postseason Honors
A trio of Vols earned all-conference postseason honors as announced by the SEC on Sunday. Hannah Wilkinson led the way by earning All-SEC first-team recognition for the second time in her illustrious career after posting career highs in goals (10), assists (nine) and points (29). Do-everything sophomore standout Rylie O'Keefe garnered All-SEC second-team honors for the first time after tying for the team lead with nine assists. Maya Neal was named to the SEC All-Freshmen team after registering seven points and helping lead the Vols to seven shutouts this season.
UT in the SEC Tournament
Tennessee is making its 18th appearance in the SEC Tournament and third under Pensky. The Vols are 15-12-5 all-time in those appearances with four tournament titles (2002, 2003, 2005, 2008). UT is 2-1-2 in the tournament under Pensky, including a run to the semifinals in 2014.
Wilkinson's Career Year
Hannah Wilkinson has been nearly unstoppable this season, setting career highs in goals, assists and points. She finished tied for third in the conference with 29 points, tied for fourth with 10 goals and tied second with nine assists. Wilkinson continued her stellar play on Monday by scoring 45 seconds into the game to help UT beat Ole Miss. Over the past nine games, she has racked up 20 total points and has recorded at least one point in eight of them. This season, Wilkinson has moved up to second on the program's career goals chart with 33, and up to third on the Vols' all-time scoring list with 84 career points. The New Zealand native notched her 18th career assist two weeks ago in a win over Mississippi State to move into a tie for eighth on Tennessee's all-time list. Wilkinson's nine assists this year are tied for 12th in the country as well. Her 10 multi-point efforts are far and away the most on the team this season.
From Weakness to Strength
Tennessee's attack has been much improved this season with 34 total goals after scoring just 27 a year ago. The Big Orange have scored two or more goals in 13 matches this season after only scoring multiple goals five times all of last year. Eleven different players have found the back of the net for the Vols this season and 15 have recorded at least one point.
UT Against Ranked Foes
Tennessee will play its fifth game against a ranked opponent this season in Wednesday's match against the Tigers. The Vols are 34-68-10 all-time against ranked teams with six wins over top 25 foes under Brian Pensky. A win over Auburn would be the first for UT over a ranked foe since a 3-0 win over No. 21 Missouri on Oct. 26, 2014.
