Four Vols Begin USWNT Selection Camp Tryouts

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Four current and former Tennessee Volunteers will be among the 40 players competing for 17 spots on the 2016 USA Softball Women’s National Team (WNT) at the national team selection camp that begins today in Irvine, Calif.
Current UT players vying for a spot include senior Rainey Gaffin, sophomore Meghan Gregg and freshman Brooke Vines. VFL Raven Chavanne, who has been a member of the WNT team for the past three summers, will also be attending the selection camp which runs through Wednesday, Jan. 6.
WNT Selection Camp attendees will participate in a four day selection camp, where they will compete in position drills and simulated games while being evaluated by members of the Women’s National Team Selection Committee (WNTSC).
The 17 players who are selected to the team will represent the U.S. this summer at the World Cup of Softball XI, the XV World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) Women's World Championship and the Japan Cup.
