KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Incoming Tennessee softball freshmen Haley Bearden, Brittany Edmondson, Aubrey Leach, Logyn Lilley, Abby Lockman have been named to a variety of high school All-American lists this summer.
Bearden, Edmondson, Leach, Lilley and Lockman are part of Tennessee's 12-member incoming freshman class that was ranked No. 2 in the nation by FullCountSoftball.com.
On July 9, Leach, Lilley and Lockman were named to the MaxPreps 2015 All-American Softball Team. All three earned First Team honors.
On July 8, Bearden, Edmondson, Leach and Lockman earned 2015 FloSoftball All-American First Team honors.
Leach was named an NFCA First Team High School All-American last month.
Edmondson, Leach and Lockman were named to the American Family Insurance ALL-USA Postseason Softball Teams, which were released by USA TODAY last month. Leach was named to the ALL-USA First Team and Lockman and Edmondson were each ALL-USA Honorable Mentions.
A catcher most of her career, Bearden was moved to first base this spring for Clarksville High School (Tenn.) and excelled at her new position, hitting .426 with seven home runs, 49 RBI, 19 walks and a .690 on-base percentage.
Edmondson was a four-time All-State pick at Ezell Harding Christian School (Tenn.) with 2.6 home-to-first speed, which she used to hit .545 with a .588 on-base percentage and get 25 steals in 26 attempts. She hit a three-run home run to send her team to the regional championships.
Leach hit .594 this year for The Woodlands High School (Texas) with 60 hits and 49 steals over 34 games. She led her team to a semifinal berth, where it lost in extra innings to eventual champion Katy. In her four-year career, she went to the regional finals each season and had a .532 batting average with 172 steals in 149 games.
Lilley hit a career-high .729 during her senior season at Palm Harbor University High School (Fla.) with 50 RBIs and 38 runs scored. Her play helped PHU keep its seven-year playoff streak alive with a district title and an appearance in the region semifinals, where the Hurricanes lost to eventual Class 8A state champion Newsome. She had 215 career hits and 180 RBIs.
Lockman was chosen as the CIF-SS Div. I Player of the Year after helping Norco High School (Calif.) win the DI championship. She hit .457, set her school's single-season mark with 14 home runs and led the team with 38 RBIs. She finished her career with a school-record 32 home runs.
