GOIN' TO SUPERS! #8 UT Wins NCAA Regional

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Meghan Gregg hit a two-run homer, Erin Gabriel and Rainey Gaffin shut down Utah and No.8 Tennessee defeated the Utes, 3-1, on Sunday to punch its eighth ticket to NCAA Super Regionals.
UT has qualified for Super Regionals for the fourth-straight season and the fifth time in the last six years.
Tennessee (45-14) next hosts No. 9 national seed Florida State in the 2015 Knoxville Super Regional. Dates and game times will be announced soon. The Seminoles won the Tallahassee Regional. Tennessee is 3-0 all-time against Florida State, including a 4-1 win on Feb. 19 in Cathedral City, Calif.
Available all-session bleacher-back ticket packages go on sale to the public on Monday, May 18, at 8:30 a.m. ET over the phone at 865-656-1200 or in-person at the Tennessee ticket office. The bleacher-back all-session package is $20 and includes tickets for both days of the Knoxville Super Regional. There is a purchase limit of 6 per account/address/payment/etc.
Tennessee softball season ticket holders have until Tuesday, May 19, at noon to renew their season ticket location by logging into their online account 24 hours a day at UTTix.com, by calling the Tennessee Ticket Office at 865-656-1200 or visiting the ticket office in-person between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. ET.
Should the initial ticket availability sell-out, any tickets not renewed by season ticket holders would open on Thursday, May 21, at 8:30 a.m. ET.
Tennessee improves to 10-4 all-time on Regional Sunday and 9-2 all-time in Game 6.
The Lady Vols scored two runs in the first inning and added a third run in the sixth. Utah (36-19) plated its lone run in the second.
Tory Lewis was 2-for-3 with one RBI. Shaliyah Geathers went 2-for-3 at the plate and had a big catch at the wall in the fourth inning.
Gabriel (17-6) earned the win after striking out four and allowing one run over the first four frames. Gaffin earned her third save after fanning six over three shutout frames.
Utah starter Katie Donovan (17-10) took the loss after allowing two runs over 5.1 innings. Sammy Cordova gave up one run over 1.2 relief frames.
Gregg gave Tennessee a 2-0 lead in the first inning when she crushed a two-run homer to left center. With one out and Gaffin on first base, Gregg sent the first pitch she saw from Donovan over the wall in left center for her 13th blast of the season and the team's 99th.
Following a one-hour rain delay, Utah got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the second inning. With one on and one out, Heather Bowen hit an RBI single to left field, plating Bridget Castro. After Mariah Ramirez hit a double to left center, Gabriel got out of a jam with two Utes in scoring position. Gabriel struck out Shelby Pacheco and Maddy Woodard grounded out to the shortstop.
UT added another run the sixth inning when Lewis hit an RBI single through the right side with the bases loaded.
