KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Coming off a fourth place finish at the SEC Championship earlier this month, the 14th-ranked Tennessee women's golf team was selected as a fourth-seed and will head to San Antonio, Texas for Regional play. The selection show aired live on the Golf Channel on Monday night.
The Lady Vols received its 23rd consecutive bid to play in postseason action. Competition will take place from April 7-9 at the Briggs Ranch Golf Club (par 72, 6,350 yards). Tennessee is familiar with the golf course as they last played it last season at the Alamo Invitational.
"We are excited about being selected to the NCAA tournament tournament, and we are looking forward to playing in San Antonio," head coach Judi Pavon said. "We have played at that course before, and it's always nice to go back to a familiar place."
The team enters regional play with seven top-five finishes on the season, highlighted by wins at the Westbrook Spring Invitational and SDSU Farms Invitational. Senior AJ Newell collected her first individual victory at the Westbrook Spring Invite.
Head coach Judi Pavon has led the Lady Vols to nine NCAA Championships and has taken her group to the NCAA Regionals every year since taking over the program in 2000.
The top six teams from each regional site will advance to the NCAA Championship in Bradenton, Florida, which will take place from May 22-27 at the Concession Golf Club.
