KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee senior forward Cierra Burdick, who owns a 3.86 GPA in communication studies, has been named a CoSIDA Women's Basketball Academic All-America second-team selection.
Burdick is the Lady Vols' first academic All-American since Glory Johnson in 2012. She is the program's 11th CoSIDA Academic All-America honoree, and it marks the 14th overall honor by a UT player.
Burdick, a graduate of Butler High School in Charlotte, N.C., was a first-time recipient of CoSIDA All-District 3 honors this season and was UT's first recipient of academic all-district acclaim since Taber Spani made the squad in 2011-12 and 2012-13.
A member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll the past three seasons, Burdick projects to pick up her fourth such honor this season.
A native of Charlotte, N.C., the 6-foot-2 Burdick has played in 25 games, starting 20 of them for the #6/6 Lady Vols (23-4, 13-1 SEC). She is averaging 10.7 points and 7.0 rebounds per game entering UT's final two regular-season contests, including a road game at Georgia Thursday night.
