Harper Peterson Joins Lady Vol Portal Class
April 15, 2026 | Women's Basketball
Harper Peterson, a mobile forward who has demonstrated three-point shooting prowess in limited opportunities over the past two seasons at Stanford, has signed an Institutional Financial Aid Agreement (IFAA), Lady Vol head coach Kim Caldwell confirmed on Wednesday.
Â
A 6-foot-3 redshirt sophomore from Rocklin, California, Peterson's first collegiate season ended early due to injury and contributed to her playing in only 19 games in two seasons on "The Farm." She was rated as a four-star prospect and the No. 87 player coming out of Whitney High School in the class of 2024.
Â
Peterson joins 5-9 guards Avery Mills (Liberty) and Naomi White (Northern Arizona) as those in Tennessee's 2026 portal class who have officially submitted paperwork. UT also will welcome 6-1 freshman guard/forward Gabby Minus (Dacula, Ga./Hebron Christian Academy), the No. 64-ranked player in the 2026 SportsCenter NEXT 100 class.
In 13 attempts from deep from 2024-26, Peterson knocked down five of 13 shots for a 38.5-percent clip over a combined 70 minutes of action. She played nine contests as a freshman and 10 as a sophomore for the Cardinal.
Â
As a sophomore, Peterson averaged 1.1 points and 0.7 rebounds as she tried to work her way back to the form that caught recruiters' eyes. She finished three of eight from beyond the arc for 37.5 percent on the year while scoring in four contests and pulling down at least a rebound on four occasions. She hit three-pointers vs. NC State, Boston College and UC Davis and had a career-high three rebounds vs. UC Davis.
Â
Playing in only nine games in 2024-25 before her freshman season ended prematurely, Peterson shot 40 percent beyond the arc (2-5) in a limited sample size. She tallied six points on 2-of-2 shooting from three-point range over six minutes in the opener vs. Le Moyne. The rookie also dished out three assists in 10 minutes vs. Morgan State.
Â
At Whitney High School, Peterson was a two-time MaxPreps California All-State Fourth Team selection in 2023 and 2024. She also was named MaxPreps All Sac-Joaquin Section First Team and Sacramento Bee Large School Player of the Year in 2024 and garnered MaxPreps All Sac-Joaquin Section Junior of the Year accolades in 2023.
Â
Peterson appeared in 103 varsity games during her prep career and averaged 13.9 points, 8.1 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 2.1 steals and 1.3 blocks per game. She led Whitney to a second consecutive Sac-Joaquin Section Division II title as a senior by averaging 14.4 points, 8.2 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 2.0 steals and 1.5 blocks.
