Vols Wrap Up Play at SEC Classic

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Tennessee freshman Igor Smelyanski lost in the quarterfinals Sunday as the Vols wrapped up their stay at the SEC Fall Classic.
Smelyanski lost in a close two-setter to Florida's Diego Hidalgo 7-6, 6-4 at Ring Linder Stadium.
Freshman Luis Valero won another match Sunday to reach the semifinals of the consolation singles draw. He defeated Arkansas' Santiago Munoz 6-2, 6-4 but then lost of Ole Miss' Ricardo Jorge 6-0, 6-2.
Both Smelyanski and Valero, in their second competition for Tennessee, finished with three singles victories each.
Freshman Jess Jones won his only match of the day in consolation, beating Mississippi State newcomer Juan Cruz 7-6 (5), 4-6, (10-5).
Tennessee continues fall tournament play next weekend with some of the team set to play at the Georgia Tech Fall Invitational in Atlanta.
