Tourney Storylines
About SEC Fall Classic- This is the second year of the SEC Fall Classic, which was hosted last season by Vanderbilt in Nashville, Tenn.
- Florida is hosting this season's rendition, hosting individuals from most SEC schools for a four-day event, which runs from Friday through Monday
- The SEC Fall Classic is the spiritual successor to the SEC Coaches Indoor Championships, which was last held in 2012. The tournament was held in January before the start of the dual match season. Tennessee's last champion at that event was Boris Conkic in 2010.
Last Week's Winners
- The Vols picked up a trophy to open the fall season last week, with senior Andrew Dromsky and freshman Igor Smelyanski teaming up to win the Division I title at the Southern Intercollegiate Championships. They won five matches en route to the title, fighting off three match points to beat Georgia Tech's Christopher Eubanks and Nathan Rakitt 6-3, 4-6, [15-13].
- It was the first career collegiate title for Dromsky and it came in his home state. He enters this weekend with 49 career doubles wins, just one away from the milestone 50.
Freshman Trio Debuts
- The Vols' three freshmen -- Smelyanski, Jess Jones and Luis Valero -- made their collegiate debuts last week at the Southern Intercollegiate Championships, all winning their first matches
- Jones collected a ranked win to start his career, beating No. 94 Alex Arovin of Tennessee Tech 6-1, 6-2
- Last weekend also marked the first fall matches for Dromsky and Bartosz Sawicki
