TENNESSEE TIDBITS
- With a season-opening, 10-match road swing now behind them, the Tennessee volleyball team returns to Thompson-Boling Arena for its home opener and the DISH Lady Vol Classic. UT hosts in-state foes Austin Peay and Memphis, as well as Mercer and Montana State.
- This is the 13th consecutive year that Tennessee has hosted the Lady Vol Classic, a tournament whose namesake dates back to 1984.
- The Big Orange is 44-11 all-time at the Lady Vol Classic, including a 38-11 mark under head coach Rob Patrick. UT has posted winning records in 16 of the 18 Classics it has hosted.
- Sept. 18th marks the latest calendar start date for the annual tournament since 1997.
- The Lady Vols have amassed a 29-6 (.829) record in home openers.
- In the Rob Patrick era, Tennessee has been even better with a 15-2 (.882) record. The two losses during that span were to LSU on Sept. 21, 2001, and Florida State on Aug. 24, 2012.
- The Orange & White has won 11 of the last 12 home openers.
- Tennessee is coming off a three-match weekend at the Coastal Carolina Tournament in Conway, South Carolina. There, the Lady Vols went 2-1 earning wins over Kennesaw State and Loyola Maryland before falling to host CCU in the finale.
- Sophomore outside hitter Jamie Lea was named to the All-Tournament team after finishing the weekend with two double-doubles in three matches. She totalled 18 kills and 13 digs against KSU and 13 kills and 14 kills and 17 a career-high 17 digs against CCU.
- Junior setter Lexi Dempsey also received All-Tournament team consideration following a weekend in which she posted 120 assists (10 assists per set) to go along with 27 digs (2.25 per set).
- Dempsey came away with her second double-double of the season when she handed out a season-best 44 assists and scooped up 13 digs against Kennesaw State.
- After seeing time in just two sets over the first six matches of the year, freshman Kendra Turner has started each of the last four for UT. The outside hitter had a breakout performance against KSU, hammering a match and career-high 19 kills on 40 swings for a remarkable attack percentage of .375.
