Dromsky, Smelyanski Reach SF at UGA

ATHENS, Ga. -- Tennessee senior Andrew Dromsky and freshman Igor Smelyanski won again Sunday to reach the doubles semifinals of the Southern Intercollegiate Championships at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex.
The new UT team, seeded fifth in the tournament, beat Georgia's fourth-seeded pair of Eric Diaz and Austin Smith 8-5 to advance.
Dromsky and Smelyanski face Vanderbilt's Baker Newman and Ryan Smith in Monday's semifinals at noon, which will be played best of three sets. The winner takes on the third-seeded Georgia Tech team of Christopher Eubanks and Nathan Rakitt in the title match.
In consolation singles matches, junior Bartosz Sawicki collected his first victory over the year, beating Navy's Calvin Mark 6-2, 4-6, [10-6].
LIBIETIS FALLS IN SINGLES IN DAVIS CUP
Senior Mikelis Libietis was subbed into Latvia's singles lineup Sunday and lost in straight sets to Austria's Jurgen Melzer in a Davis Cup relegation play-off.
Libietis lost to the former top-10 stay 6-2, 6-2, 6-4 in the clinching match for Austria, which won both singles matches Sunday to win the tie 4-1.
It was Libietis' first singles match since May's NCAA Championships. He won his doubles match in straight-sets Saturday with Ernests Gulbis.
Latvia now plays a relegation match in October against Sweden to stay in Europe/Africa Group I.
Libietis now will now rejoin the Vols in fall tournament play. The team is set for the SEC Fall Classic next weekend
