KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- This weekend's Rev3 Glow Run, Kids Triathlon and Triathlon will impact the incoming and outgoing traffic for fans planning to attend the 2014 Knoxville Regional at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium from May 16-18.
The 2014 Knoxville Regional starts on Friday with a 3:30 p.m. ET game between Lipscomb and Virginia Tech, followed by a 6 p.m. ET game between No. 10 national seed Tennessee and Charleston Southern. The Rev3 Glow Run starts at 8:30 p.m. on Neyland Drive, taking up the eastbound lanes. The run should be over with lanes re-opened by 9:30 p.m. Fans departing the Tennessee-Charleston Southern game may be required to go west on Neyland, turning only right from Leinard Lane.
On Saturday, May 17, the Knoxville Regional resumes with three games. The first game starts at 2 p.m. ET and the last game is slated for a 7 p.m. ET start. Saturday's Rev3 Kids Triathlon starts at 8 a.m. and should only last a maximum of two hours with the only road closure being Volunteer Blvd. between Lake Loudoun Blvd. and Joe Johnson Drive. Fans arriving early at the stadium, should take Neyland Drive from Alcoa Highway or the James White Parkway, avoiding campus to be safe.
On Sunday, May 18, the Knoxville Regional will feature a 2 p.m. ET game followed by a 4:30 p.m. ET game (if necessary). The Rev3 Triathlon will cause complete closure of Neyland Drive between Walnut Street and Lake Loudoun Blvd. starting at 5 a.m. At 2 p.m., both eastbound lanes and one westbound lane on Neyland Drive will be open. One westbound lane on Neyland between C-15 parking lot and Joe Johnson Blvd. will remain closed until 4:30 p.m. Fans can get to the stadium from the western end of Neyland Drive (Alcoa Highway or Kingston Pike) or by driving through campus and turning right onto Neyland Drive from Lake Loudoun.
