OKLAHOMA CITY --The Tennessee softball team, its staff and the families of the teams in the Oklahoma City Sheraton are all safe after hotel guests were instructed to evacuate to the basement and lower parking garage level Friday night.
Friday's Women's College World Series games, including UT's Game 5 contest against Washington, were postponed due to the severe weather. The WCWS will resume on Saturday when Tennessee and Washington play Game 5 at 11 a.m. CT/ 12 p.m. ET on ESPN2.
The teams' coaches were first notified at about 3:15 p.m. CT to hold at the hotel due to severe weather moving towards Oklahoma City.
Then at about 6:30 p.m. a voice came over the hotel intercom and instructed all guests to head down to the basement. Once in the basement, everyone was directed to keep moving to the parking garage of an adjacent building.
After about an hour, guests were instructed it was safe to move back upstairs to the lobby. Then the tornado sirens went off again and the Tennessee group moved back downstairs, where it stayed for approximately 30-45 minutes before moving back upstairs.
