KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee senior Amy Harrison was named to the Soccer America Women's Team of the Week on Wednesday in recognition for her outstanding four-goal showing in the Lady Vols' wins over Samford and Western Kentucky in Week 1.
Harrison has garnered three prestigious honors for her twin two-goal performances. On Monday, she was named TopDrawerSoccer.com's Women's College Player of the Week and the Southeastern Conference's Offensive Player of the Week.
Harrison played 127 minutes in UT's wins over Samford and Western Kentucky, registering eight points off her four scores. Six of her eight shots were on goal.
The Winnepeg, Manitoba, Canada, native is the first to earn Soccer America Women's Team of the Week honors since goalkeeper Julie Eckel was recognized on Nov. 2, 2011. She is the 16th UT player all-time to be named to Soccer America's prestigious weekly teem and the 26th selection for Tennessee overall.
Tennessee is off to a remarkable start in head coach Brian Pensky's first season leading the team. UT is 2-0 for the fifth time in program history and the Lady Vols' eight goals against Samford and WKU are the most ever in the first two games of a season.
Harrison and the Tennessee soccer team return to Regal Soccer Stadium this week to host the First Tennessee Lady Vol Classic. UT will take on William & Mary on Friday at 8 p.m. and VCU on Sunday at 3 p.m. For tickets to all UT soccer games, go to UTTIX.com.
