Harrison Named SEC Offensive Player of Week

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Tennessee senior midfielder Amy Harrison adds to her Week 1 awards count. UT's team captain was named the Southeastern Conference's Offensive Player of the Week on Monday after her brilliant four-goal weekend.
Harrison, who was also named TopDrawerSoccer.com's Women's College Player of the Week, helped lead Tennessee to a 2-0 start to its 2012 season with the first two multi-goal games of her career. She scored two goals in UT's 4-0 season-opening win over Samford on Friday at Regal Stadium and followed that with another two goals in the team's 4-1 victory Sunday at Western Kentucky.
Harrison played 127 minutes over the course of both victories, registering eight points off her four goals. Six of her eight shots on the week were on goal.
Harrison is the first Tennessee player to garner SEC Offensive Player of the Week since Alexis Owens was named Co-Offensive Player of the week on Sept. 26, 2011. She is the first to hold the honors alone since Emily Dowd earned the award on Sept. 19, 2011. Harrison is the 43rd UT selection for SEC Player of the Week (Offensive, Defensive, Freshman honors combined) in program history.
Tennessee is off to a remarkable start in head coach Brian Pensky's first season leading the team. UT is 2-0 for the fifth time in program history and the Lady Vols' eight goals against Samford and WKU are the most ever in the first two games of a season.
Harrison and the Tennessee soccer team return to Regal Soccer Stadium this week to host the First Tennessee Lady Vol Classic. UT will take on William & Mary on Friday at 8 p.m. and VCU on Sunday at 3 p.m.
