LADY VOL TENNIS TRAVELS TO FURMAN FALL CLASSIC

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The University of Tennessee Lady Vol tennis team is set to travel to Greenville, S.C., to compete in the Furman Fall Classic. Tennessee will take on participants from Clemson, North Carolina, Vanderbilt, South Carolina, Florida State and Northwestern and Furman this weekend at the Minor Herndon Mickel Tennis Center.
The Orange and White will be looking to build on a solid performance at the SEC Coaches Tournament, Sept. 11-13, in Nashville, Tenn., where UT competitors were able to claim a pair of flight titles in both singles and doubles play. Junior Maria Sorbello and freshman Kata Szekely both took home championships in their respective singles flights while the duo of Sorbello and Szekely and the Big Orange pairing of senior Zsófia Zubor and junior Rosalía Alda each earned doubles titles.
Doubles action will kick off the tournament beginning Friday at 9 a.m., where three pairs will represent Tennessee. Following the conclusion of doubles play, one round of singles contests will start at 1 p.m. This is the first competition of the season for senior CaitlinWhoriskey and sophomore Natalie Pluskota. The two opted not to play in the SEC Coaches Tournament and will use this weekend's matches to help prepare them for the ITA/Riviera All American Championship, October 3-11.The Furman Classic will continue play Saturday and Sunday, beginning at 9 a.m. each day.
