Lady Vol Golfers Placed in East Regional

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The University of Tennessee golf team will be one of six squads from the Southeastern Conference competing at the NCAA East Regional Tournament, May 8-10, in Athens, Ga. Sixth-seeded Tennessee recently finished eighth at the SEC Championships on April 20. Florida, the No. 2 seed in the East Regional, won the tournament. UT will also face conference opponents Georgia (No. 3 seed), Auburn (No. 4 seed), Vanderbilt (No. 9 seed) and South Carolina (No. 11 seed) at the UGA Golf Course.
The Lady Vols will have to finish in the top eight out of 21 teams to qualify for the NCAA Championships to be held May 20-23 in Albuquerque, N.M. Of the 324 players participating in Regionals next weekend, only 126 will advance to the championship finals. The UT women???s golf team has qualified for the regional tournament each year since the program???s inception in 1993 and the past four NCAA Championships. The Orange and White won the West Regional in 2005 and East Regional in 2006, and finished seventh in the Central Regional last year.
