OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - A perfect 6-0 week against non-conference opposition and a current 14-game winning streak have kept the Tennessee Lady Vol softball team (39-2) at No. 1 for the eighth consecutive poll according to a Tuesday release by the Amateur Softball Association (ASA). UT is the unanimous choice for the top spot for the first time since the March 6 listing by garnering all 20 first-place votes to lead No. 2 Oklahoma (38-4) by 24 total points.
Alabama (35-4) won two of three match-ups from Southeastern Conference rival Georgia in a key league series last weekend in Tuscaloosa, Ala., to advance one spot to third, while Texas A&M (29-5) lost single contests to Texas and Oklahoma to fall from second to fourth. LSU (35-5) sits at No. 5 to grant the SEC three of the nation's top five softball programs in this week's rankings.
Live stats will be available through utladyvols.com (Gametracker) for Tuesday evening's 5 p.m. ET match-up between the top-ranked Lady Vols and the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles. Periodic updates will be provided to the Lady Vol Hotline at 865-974-8700 (box #6).
