Rossi Earns Spot on Soccer America Team

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. ??? University of Tennessee women???s soccer player Kylee Rossi was named to Soccer America???s 2007 National MVP Team on Thursday. Rossi???s second team selection is the first in program history.
The junior forward made her mark during the 2007 campaign, which saw UT reach the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 for the fifth time in program history. With her 30 points on 12 goals and six assists, Rossi became the first player to lead the Lady Vols in scoring for three consecutive seasons and set new career-highs in each category.
Rossi earned her second straight Southeastern Conference Offensive Player of the Year award after scoring nine of her 12 goals during league play. The Pennington, N.J., native notched five game-winners against SEC opponents, helping propel Tennessee to a third-place finish in the Eastern Division and an 8-2-1 conference record.
With her overtime game-winner against Clemson in the second round of the NCAA Tournament on Nov. 18, Rossi became the Lady Vols??? new all-time leading scorer with her 30th career goal. Along with the goals record, Rossi moved to the top of the UT charts in career shots (249), game-winners (12) and ???golden goals??? (4).
The honor marks the second of its kind in for Rossi in 2007. The junior earned the second National Soccer Coaches Association/adidas All-Region selection of her career earlier this week. UCLA sophomore Lauren Cheney took home Soccer America???s National Player of the Year honors.
