HENSEL AND STEPHENS ADVANCE AT SEC COACHES' INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS

Tennessee men's tennis player Kaden Hensel won twice in Division "A" singles and Derek Stephens won twice in Division "B" singles Saturday to advance at the SEC Coaches' Indoor Championships held at the Rivercenter Racquet and Health Club in New Orleans.
"Today was a good day for the program," head men's tennis coach Sam Winterbotham said. "We are continuing to take steps forward. The guys played high quality tennis today against great competition."
Hensel defeated two ranked players to advance. In the round of 16, Hensel defeated ninth-ranked Ken Skupski of LSU 7-6, 6-2. In the quarterfinals, Hensel defeated 75th-ranked Jakob Klaeson of Ole Miss. Hensel now has 15 wins on the season and boasts six victories over ranked opponents.
Stephens defeated a pair of Georgia Bulldogs to advance. In the quarterfinals, the UT sophomore defeated Christian Vitulli 7-6, 6-0. In the semifinals, Stephens defeated Josh Varela.
Bobby Cameron defeated Georgia freshman Jamie Hunt in the round of 16 of Division "A" but fell in the quarterfinals to Hunt's teammate Matic Omerzel.
Chris Racz won his first match on Saturday, coming-from-behind to defeat Geoff Barton of Florida 1-6, 6-4, 6-4. Racz lost in the semifinals to Georgia's Ricardo Gonzalez.
Adam Hubble dropped his quarterfinal match to Gonzalez 6-1, 6-2.
"When you look at the draws and see whose left. It's Tennessee and Georgia," Winterbotham said. "Georgia is currently the No. 1 ranked team in the country, so we are certainly proud of what we have done so far in this tournament. Hopefully, Derek can win his flight tomorrow and Kaden will continue to play great tennis as he has all week."
