PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. - Junior Victoria Jones (Tyne & Wear, U.K.) of the University of Tennessee Lady Vol tennis team completed play at the Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships on Wednesday with a 7-6 (3), 6-1 loss to Kendra Strohn of Texas in consolation play. She went 0-1 on Tuesday before advancing in consolation round action with a walkover win.
Teammate Blakeley Griffith (Middleburg, Va.) completed her play in the tournament on Tuesday with a 0-2 mark.
"It was a good experience for the girls to play in a national-level tournament," Co-Head Coach Mike Patrick said. "It was the best of the best out there and you really have to pick it up a notch. Now they know what they have to do and we'll go back to work and get them ready to do it.
The next action for the Lady Vol tennis squad will come at the Wilson/ITA Regional Championships from Oct. 13-17 in Chapel Hill, N.C. Three Big Orange players will participate: senior Melissa Schaub (Lexington, Ohio) and sophomores Ghizela Schutte (Ninapark, South Africa) and Bryce Marable (Darien, Ill.).
