BAXENDINE ADVANCES TO SEMIFINALS AT GEORGIA TECH FALL INVITATIONAL

Atlanta, Ga. -- Tennessee men's tennis player David Baxendine won three matches Saturday to advance to the semifinals of the Flight "B" singles draw at the Georgia Tech Fall Invitational.
"I was really proud of Dave today," head coach Chris Mahony said. "Later in the day Bobby and Kaden played some great tennis in doubles. Our goal tomorrow is to play our best tennis of the tournament."
Baxendine was originally scheduled to play his first round match Friday morning but rain forced Baxendine's match to be delayed over 12 hours. The UT senior didn't complete his win over Taylor Striplin until after midnight. Baxendine returned the court a few hours later to defeat Georgia State's Eduardo Gutierrez 6-1, 6-2. Baxendine won his quarterfinal match over Jordan Magarik of Vanderbilt 6-4, 6-3.
Ben Rogers won his first match of the day over Furman's B.J. James 6-0, 6-4. Rogers fell to Evan Dufaux of Vanderbilt 3-6, 7-6(5), 7-5 in the quarterfinals.
Kaden Hensel and Kiril Tcherveniachki both won in the first round Friday but both Vols' dropped their second round matches Saturday. Hensel fell to Georgia State's Martin Stiegwardt 6-1, 6-3. Tcherveniachki lost to Georgia's Matic Omerzel, the tournament No. 1 seed, 6-2, 6-3.
Cameron playing in the consolation round for Flight "A", defeated Andrew Felsenthal of Alabama 6-2, 5-7, 6-4.
In doubles action, Cameron and Hensel won two matches to advance to the semifinals of Flight "A" doubles. The UT sophomores started with a win over Auburn's Nick Lane and Hunter Mills 8-3. In the quarterfinals, Cameron and Hensel defeated James Clow and Adrian Szatmary of Nebraska 8-4. In the semifinals the Vol netters face Georgia Tech's Zachary Rath and Scott Blackmon.
