KNOXVILLE, Tenn.

Mother Nature made her presence felt again on Wednesday, as rain forced the cancellation of the Lady Vol softball team's pair of contests against East Tennessee State at Tyson Park. The Big Orange was supposed to meet its neighbors from the Southern Conference for the first time. Instead, the teams will face one another later this season.

UT (10-5) resumes action on Friday at the Golden Panther Invitational in Miami, Fla. Ralph and Karen Weekly's club, winners of nine of its last 10 games, will take on the University at Buffalo (0-0) at 2 p.m. and event host Florida International (6-14) at 7 p.m. on its first of three days in the Sunshine State. Tennessee will also encounter Florida A&M (5-10) and Furman (2-2) during the tournament to be held at University Park. The Lady Vols will return to Tyson Park next Wednesday, March 5, with a double-dip against cross-state foe Belmont (1-0-1).
