Tennessee Invitational Cross Country Race Postponed

The University of Tennessee
has decided to indefinitely postpone the fourth annual Tennessee Invitational
cross country race originally scheduled for Friday then rescheduled for Saturday
at Lambert Acres Golf Club in Maryville. The Southeastern Conference joins all
of the other major sporting entities in the nation in postponing all athletic
events this weekend.
The University of Tennessee and SEC believe that this country must begin the healing
process following the horrendous events of this past week and will evaluate all
future schedules at an appropriate time. The SEC will still donate $1 million
to assist the victims of this event.
At present, Tennessee has no plans to reschedule the meet. The Volunteers'
next scheduled meet is the 8K Auburn Invitational Sept 29 in Auburn, Ala.
