KNOXVILLE (February 27) The Tennessee Volunteers shutout Appalachian State 8-0 on Sunday thanks to a 4-for-4 performance from Chris Burke.

The Vols got just eight hits on the day but were able to score six runs off Mountaineer pitcher Ryan Kelly who hit two UT batters and walked two more in the eighth inning.
Justin Parker put Tennessee on the board in the first inning after he doubled to score Chris Burke giving the Vols an early 1-0 lead. Chris Burke squeezed in another run in the fifth following two Appalachian State fielding errors that put Tennessee ahead 2-0. Things fell apart for Appalachian State in the eighth inning as the Mountaineers gave up six runs on just two hits. Mountaineer pitcher Ryan Kelly faced a bases loaded situation with one out in the inning and cleared the bases by scoring three Tennessee runs on a walk and two hit batters.
