Cross Country Set To Compete in NCAA Regionals
November 09, 2000 | Cross Country
Tennessees cross country squad will compete in the NCAA South Regionals on the Harry Pritchett Golf Course in Tuscaloosa, Ala., on Saturday. The top two team finishers at the South Regionals will qualify for the NCAA Championships on Nov. 20 in Ames, Iowa. We look forward to an opportunity to compete at the Regionals and improve on our last finish, head cross country coach George Watts said. Last season, Tennessee originally took fourth at the South Regionals in Auburn, Ala., with 113 points. However, region champion Southern Miss was disqualified by the NCAA for rules violations in the days following the race. Therefore, Tennessee moved up to third and missed the NCAA Championships by the slimmest of margins. In 1999, Anthony Famiglietti, Jason Steed and Ryan Clark made All-Region. Additionally, Famiglietti advanced to the NCAA Championships as an individual.
