After serving as a volunteer assistant coach during the 2022 campaign, Kelsey Campeau was promoted to assistant coach for Tennessee volleyball for the 2023 and 2024 seasons before leaving the program in January 2025.
Campeau joined the program in March of 2022 after completing her collegiate career at UCLA in the fall of 2021. A former defensive specialist for the Bruins, the 2023 VolleyballMag.com's College Coaches Hotshots selection assisted with Tennessee’s servers, serve-receivers and defensive units while also collaborating with external relations teams for social content.
In her two seasons on staff, five Lady Vols garnered All-America recognition (Nina Cajic, Morgahn Fingall, Caroline Kerr, Jenaisya Moore, Yelianiz Torres), while Cajic, Fingall, Kerr and Moore were tabbed to the All-SEC Team. Campeau helped Torres earn AVCA All-America honorable mention status and become the first Tennessee libero to receive the honor since Ellen Mullins in 2013.
The Big Orange enjoyed one of the best seasons in in program history in 2023, advancing to the regional semifinals for the first time since 2005, hosting the first and second rounds of the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2011 and earning the program's best-ever national seed at No. 10. The Lady Vols finished second in the SEC, which produced a conference-high eight NCAA Tournament teams, with a 15-3 record, and they defeated five ranked opponents throughout the season. The team reached as high as eighth in the AVCA rankings, which marked the highest regular season ranking and second-best ranking ever in program history. Four individuals garnered All-America status from the squad.
Tennessee swept 19 opponents in 31 matches on the year, marking the second-highest total for a single season in program history and the most since having 20 in 1983. UT boasted one of the country's elite offenses, ranking inside the top five nationally and leading the SEC in kills per set (2nd/14.75), assists per set (3rd/13.60) and hitting percentage (4th/.304). Defensively, the Lady Vols paced the SEC in kills per set allowed (11.39) and assists per set allowed (10.78), while ranking second in the conference in both opposing hitting percentage (.194) and aces per set allowed (0.82).
At the service line, the Lady Vols boasted 177 aces for the year, marking the most by the Big Orange during the 25-point rally-scoring era and the most by UT since also having 177 in 2003. The group ranked third in the SEC and 81st nationally with 1.67 aces per set, as four individuals finished with 30 or more aces on the year.
During the 2024 campaign, seven different Lady Vols finished with double-digit aces for the season. Cajic led the league in aces per set (0.51) during conference play and broke the Tennessee 25-point rally-scoring era records for aces in a match (7) and aces per set (0.39) in a single season.
In her first year on Rocky Top, Campeau was instrumental in helping Ashllyn King transition from an outside hitter and defensive specialist to libero, where she started at during the final 19 matches of the season. She finished the season with 299 digs, 78 assists, 13 aces and 10 kills thanks in part to Campeau’s guidance.
A Costa Mesa, California, native Campeau played in 166 sets during her UCLA career and tallied 88 digs, 14 assists and scored 11 aces. She set career-highs during her final season with 52 digs and nine service aces.
Campeau made three trips to the NCAA Tournament as a player with the Bruins – reaching the second round in 2019 and 2020 before advancing to the regional semifinals in 2021. She graduated from UCLA with a degree in political science.
