AS A JUNIOR (2008): Spent the season as a backup to Jaimel Johnson...Did not see any competitive action during her junior campaign...Collected Academic All-SEC honors for the second time.
AS A SOPHOMORE (2007): Served as a capable backup to All-American Jaimel Johnson...Saw time in only one match, a 4-0 win over Mississippi State...Combined with Johnson to record the team[apos]s eighth shutout of the season...Needed no saves in the final eight minutes to keep the shutout intact...Earned her first Academic All-SEC selection.
AS A REDSHIRT FRESHMAN (2006): After losing both Jaimel Johnson and Molly Baird to injury on Oct. 6 against LSU, Kitchin stepped in as a starter for eight games...Saw action in 10 games in 2006...Set new Lady Vol records for freshman goalkeepers with a 1.05 goals against average and fewest goals allowed (9)...Finished the season with a 5-3-0 record, including wins over Arkansas, Vanderbilt, Alabama, Georgia and Auburn in the first round of the SEC Tournament...Made a season-high eight saves in the 3-1 win over Georgia...Faced 19 shots and made six saves against Vanderbilt...Recorded two shutouts on the season...Allowed more than one goal in only three games in 2006...Finished her rookie campaign with 770 minutes in goal.
AS A FRESHMAN (2005): Traveled but did not play during the 2005 season.
HIGH SCHOOL/CLUB: A three-sport participant at Arundel High School in Gambrills, Md., Sarah picked up varsity letters in soccer (four), track (four) and lacrosse (one)...A first-team all-county choice in soccer in 2004, her 2001 squad won the county title while her track team picked up both county and regional crowns during the 2004-05 campaign...Sarah[apos]s career best in the high jump was four-feet, 10 inches.
PERSONAL: Majoring in nursing...A member of the National Honor Society and the honor roll at Arundel High School, Sarah also served as a tutor...Hobbies include hiking, camping and biking...Chose Tennessee because of the success of the soccer program and for the nationally-ranked nursing program...Cites church and mission trips as non-sports activities...Has two older brothers; David, 27, and James, 24; and a younger sister; Elizabeth, 19...Sarah Katherine Kitchin was born Nov. 12, 1986...Her parents are Doyle and Susan Kitchin.
