| COACH GRUBB[apos]S PROFILE | |
|
A former Lady Vol player from 1998-2002 who possesses extensive knowledge of the program[apos]s inner workings, Jen Laughridge Grubb enters her second year on the experienced Tennessee staff collaborating alongside seventh-year head coach Angela Kelly and fifth-season assistant coach Scott Blount. Laughridge Grubb helped the Lady Vols to a 15-6-2 record and win their second Southeastern Conference triple crown and was instrumental in recruiting former Capital Area Soccer League standouts Molly Baird and Sarah Jackyra to Tennessee. Laughridge Grubb returned to Knoxville after spending the last two years as a staff coach with the Capital Area Soccer League (CASL) in Raleigh, N.C. With the CASL, she created and oversaw training sessions for coaches and teams, helped develop skills for girls ages 9-18, instructed at both practices and matches and assisted administratively with daily operations involving the development of over 10,000 kids. As a head coach with the organization, Laughridge Grubb guided teams that picked up three regional titles and three North Carolina state crowns while advancing to one United States Youth Soccer Association (USYSA) national tournament. In the spring of 2004, her Under-14 CASL United squad picked up both regional and state championships and finished third in the national event. She also guided the Under-15 CASL Premier to a North Carolina title in the fall of 2004. In 2005, she coached three squads, the Under-13 CASL Elite, Under-13 US Club and Under-15 CASL premier, to a state championship and two regional crowns, respectively. As one of the cornerstones of the then-fledgling Lady Vol soccer program, Laughridge Grubb played a valuable role for four seasons (1998, 1999, 2001, 2002) with the Big Orange while making a strong impression on the Tennessee record books. A?two-year captain, she helped guide UT to a 49-31-3 mark, the program[apos]s initial NCAA Tournament bid ([apos]01), its first Southeastern Conference Eastern Division and Tournament titles ([apos]02) and NCAA Sweet 16 appearance ([apos]02). A selection to the 2002 SEC Tournament Team and Academic All-SEC squad, Laughridge Grubb completed her collegiate playing days with 16 goals and 26 assists, heading the career list in helpers when she left the program. She currently ranks second in Lady Vol history in helpers (26), in a tie for fifth in matches played (83), ninth in total points (58), 10th in goals (16) and in a deadlock for 10th in match-winning goals (five). Perhaps the most memorable of her soccer accomplishments was her critical goal at the 77:25 mark in the 2002 SEC Tournament Final against Florida to square the match at 1-1 and force an extra frame. Lady Vol defender Keeley Dowling would tally the overtime match-winner at 108:58 as UT picked up its first conference tournament title. Laughridge Grubb is a 2003 graduate of the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, with a bachelor of science in sport management and a minor in business administration. She married Jeremy Grubb in December of 2003.
