Dillon Carson served as a graduate assistant with the Lady Vol basketball program during the 2023-24 season after previously working with Louisville men’s basketball from 2019-23 and serving as the head manager in his final year there.
Carson’s responsibilities with UT women’s hoops include cutting and organizing UT and opponent video, and helping oversee updating and creation of in-house graphics for basketball facilities. He also will assist in managing the Lady Vol recruiting database and set-up for recruiting visits as well as helping oversee student managers and select operations activities under the supervision of Catherine Greene, UT’s executive director of basketball operations/chief of staff.
At U of L, Carson led a staff of nine student managers and was responsible for various statistical recording and analysis, cutting and organizing opponents’ film, assisting with prep for recruiting visits and general support of the coaching staff.
From 2020-23, he also worked as a social media intern for Louisville Athletics, providing game coverage for all home sporting events on multiple social media platforms as well as monitoring each of those accounts. He also produced videos for team specific accounts, created graphics that aligned with department branding standards, assisted in the creative process for sport-specific game programs and media guides, and managed a Louisville Athletics TikTok account that boasts 94.3k followers and 1.2m likes.
Since October 2020, Carson also has aided Grow The Game, a non-profit, that exists to provide college basketball student managers with free resources and opportunities in professional development and networking to kickstart their careers. He has managed and monitored the organization’s Twitter account, designed various graphics for that platform and assisted in the upkeep and pairing of Grow The Game’s manager mentorship program.
A graduate of Trinity High School in Louisville, Carson completed a bachelor of science degree in sport administration at the University of Louisville in May 2023. The recipient of the Steve & Kaye Maynard Women’s Basketball Graduate Assistant Scholarship, he is pursuing a master’s in sport management at Tennessee with expected graduation in May 2025.
