Reggie Lane enters his third season as Tennessee football’s director of player development in 2024. He joined the Josh Heupel’s staff in the spring of 2023. Lane oversees the day-to-day programming of preparing Volunteer student-athletes for personal, academic and athletic success. Lane also organizes UT’s community engagement efforts.
Lane launched and spearheaded UT’s eVOLve initiative, which has enjoyed great success in Heupel’s tenure. The Vols have completed numerous hours of community service and learned critical life skills, including financial literacy. As part of eVOLve, UT participated in a two-day RISE networking event in Nashville where student-athletes got to meet with key businesses and stakeholders.
Lane has spent his entire career in the Southeastern Conference. He came to Tennessee after serving on the staff of the Office of Sorority and Fraternity Affairs at the University of Florida from June 2016 to the spring of 2022. Lane started as program coordinator before being promoted three times, including a director role he held for three years. At UF, he provided oversight and leadership to Sorority and Fraternity Life and managed its staff and budget. He served as a key member of the Vice President of Student Life’s leadership team and advised its leadership council, the Black Student Union and Black Male Excellence Network.
During his time at UF, he created and facilitated educational and social programs for first-year male student-athletes and developed programming sessions focused on Name, Image and Likeness, including life skills and financial literacy. He assisted with programming for the Student Athlete Council and Black Student-Athlete Council. In August 2021, Lane was recognized as the 2021 Outstanding Panhellenic Advisor Award by the National Panhellenic Conference.
Lane served as the interim National Pan-Hellenic Council advisor for the Office of Greek Affairs at the University of Alabama from August 2012 to January 2013.
Lane earned his Bachelor of Science in public health from Western Kentucky University in May 2010. He received his Master of Science in counselor education from Mississippi State University in May 2012. Lane is currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy.
