Jeronimo Boche is in his seventh year at Tennessee, where he oversees the day-to-day medical coverage of the Vol football program as its top athletic trainer.
Boche came to Knoxville in the summer of 2018 and has been instrumental in giving the Vols top-flight medical coverage. He played a valuable role in UT’s COVID-19 safety protocols.
Prior to taking the job at Tennessee, Boche served as the head athletic trainer for football at James Madison University in 2018. While at JMU, he worked with the defending FCS national champions as they made a return trip to the FCS championship game in Frisco, Texas, after an undefeated season.
Before his one season at James Madison, Boche was an assistant athletic trainer for nearly a decade in the sports medicine department at Florida State.
Boche provided medical coverage for Florida State football for six years, in which he gained invaluable experience. He was part of the sports medicine team that helped the Seminoles reach two Orange Bowls, one College Football Playoff and a win in the 2013 BCS National Championship. His vast experience in dealing with the explosive athlete dates back to when he first joined FSU in 2007.
Prior to making the switch to football, he served as the staff athletic trainer for the Seminoles’ men’s and women’s track and field and cross country programs, helping the men win the 2007 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field title.
During his tenure at FSU he also spearheaded the concussion management program. Boche worked alongside the team physician and team neuropsychologist to develop concussion assessment and management procedures for the entire athletic department. Boche earned his Master of Science degree in health and human performance from Oklahoma State in 2007.
During his time at OSU he served as the graduate assistant athletic trainer responsible for the care and rehabilitation of the women’s soccer program. He was also an Accredited Curriculum Instructor (ACI) for the CAATE approved curriculum.
Boche received his Bachelor of Exercise and Sports Science degree with an emphasis in athletic training from Texas State in 2004.
During the summer of 2003, Boche earned an internship via the Professional Football Athletic Trainers Society (PFATS), where he served as an intern athletic trainer with the National Football League’s Arizona Cardinals.
A native of Fort Worth, Texas, Boche has been a certified member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association since 2004, and he is licensed by the Tennessee Board of Medicine. He is married to Dr. Katy Boche, and they have one son, Everett.
