Knoxville native Charlie High returned to his alma mater as offensive scouting coordinator on Josh Heupel’s Tennessee staff in the spring of 2021.
On the heels of a record-setting offensive campaign in the fall of 2021, High helped the Volunteers sign a top-15 recruiting class in December 2021.
High worked on Heupel’s staff at UCF, serving as a recruiting assistant from February 2020 to February 2021. He assisted current Vols’ Director of Scouting Brandon Lawson with scouting and recruiting evaluations. He was also involved in numerous administrative tasks with the coaching staff.
Prior to Orlando, High was a recruiting assistant at North Carolina from June 2019 to January 2020. He assisted in the planning and coordination of logistics during recruiting visits and worked with the special assistant to the head coach in evaluations and film logs.
High broke into the coaching ranks at Grace Christian High School in Knoxville in March 2017. He served as quarterbacks coach, as well as junior varsity head coach.
High played collegiately as a quarterback at Tennessee Tech in 2013. He earned his undergraduate degree in communication studies from Tennessee in June 2019. High was a two-time state champion quarterback with a 28-3 record as a starter at Christian Academy of Knoxville from 2009-12. He shattered 12 state passing records.
High’s brother, Billy, serves as the Vols’ director of internal and advance scouting.
