During his first two years on Rocky Top, Medina has assisted Head Athletic Trainer for Football, Jeronimo Boche, in the day-to-day medical coverage for UT’s football team. During his time with the Cardinals he assisted in the daily operations of the athletic training room, including physical rehabilitation and acute medical care. Medina also coordinated medical coverage for the NFL's professional player and regional combine as well as Kurt Warner's 'First Things First' Foundation Ultimate Football Experience.
Medina earned his master's degree at the University of South Carolina in 2015. During his graduate assistantship he worked with the Gamecocks’ football team during the 2014-15 season and served as the head athletic trainer at Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School during the 2013-14 season. Medina also spent time as a clinical instructor for the undergraduate athletic training program and a teaching assistant for the graduate level anatomy dissection lab.
Medina completed his bachelor's degree in athletic training at the University of South Florida in 2013. While at USF, he also completed a summer student internship with the NFL's Detroit Lions in 2012.
Medina is a member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association and an affiliate member of the Sports Neuropsychology Society. He also holds certifications in Blood Flow Restriction rehabilitation, Graston Technique and CPR/AED by the American Heart Association.
