- Title:
- Quality Control Analyst
Updated May 2020
Jeremiah Wilson is in his second season as a defensive quality control analyst on the Tennessee football staff.
Wilson was part of a staff that helped lead the Vols to one of the most impressive in-season turnarounds in college football during the 2019 season. After starting the year 2-5, UT won its final five regular-season games before posting a dramatic comeback victory over Indiana in the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl.
Prior to joining Jeremy Pruitt’s staff at Tennessee, Wilson spent one season as the cornerbacks coach at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, helping lead the Mocs to a 6-5 record. UTC finished second in the Southern Conference in scoring defense, allowing an average of 21.0 points per game, and second in defensive pass efficiency (120.4 passing yards per game).
Before his lone season at Chattanooga, Wilson spent the previous five years working in a variety of off-the-field roles at Florida State. He was a defensive quality control specialist for FSU’s 2013 BCS National Championship team, working directly under Pruitt, who was the Seminoles defensive coordinator at the time.
Following the Seminoles championship season, Wilson stayed on as a defensive graduate assistant while earning his master’s degree in International Affairs. He worked primarily with the secondary and in the recruiting department, helping the Seminoles sign a top-five class each year he was there.
During his time in Tallahassee, the Seminoles won a pair of ACC titles and appeared in four other bowl games. Wilson also worked directly with numerous NFL Draft picks, highlighted by Jalen Ramsey, Lamarcus Joyner, Terrance Brooks, P.J. Williams and Derwin James.
Before working at Florida State, Wilson was an assistant coach at Amos P. Godby High School in Tallahassee from 2010-12. While at Godby, he helped lead the Cougars to the 2012 Florida Class 5A State Championship while coaching the secondary and special teams. During his tenure, he coached eight defensive backs who signed to play at Power-5 schools, while a total of 14 players he coached earned college scholarships.
After starring at Chattooga High School in Summerville, Georgia, Wilson began his collegiate playing career at Lenoir-Rhyne University in Hickory, North Carolina. After just one season at Lenoir-Rhyne, he transferred to Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Alabama, where he graduated with a degree in Sport Management in 2009 and started his coaching career as a defensive assistant.
While at Huntingdon College, Wilson worked closely with current Tennessee defensive coordinator Derrick Ansley, who was the program’s defensive backs coach. Ansley and Wilson helped lead the Hawks to their first ever appearance in the NCAA Division III playoffs in 2009.
