- A unanimous selection by league’s coaches to the American Conference All-Freshman team after leading the Owls in batting average (.292), slugging percentage (.493), hits (61), RBI (38), doubles (12), home runs (10), total bases (103) and multi-hit games (18) while tying for the lead in multi-RBI games (8)
- Became the first freshman for the Owls to lead the team in batting average since 2009
- Eighth freshman in school history to reach double figures in home runs
- Also made seven appearances on the mound with four starts
- Opened the season with hits in his first six games and drove in a run in each of the three games of the Puerto Rico Baseball Challenge in Ponce, Puerto Rico
- Had three hitting streaks of at least six games, including a season-best nine-game streak from April 5-18
- Recorded his first-career two homer game at UAB (4/27) and drove in four runs to give the Owls a win in the series finale
- Scored a season-best four runs in the series opener at Memphis (4/17) to lead the Owls to a 10-5 win
- Drove in a season-best six runs vs. USF (4/12), the last four coming on his first-career walk-off and grand slam home run

- Father, Chris Brown, was a running back for Colorado before being drafted by the Tennessee Titans in the third round of the 2003 NFL Draft. He played five seasons with the Titans before signing a two-year contract with the Houston Texans where he ended his career
- Uncle, Levelle Brown, played college football for Northwestern and later played in the Arena Football League
- Aunt, Lashawndra Brown, was a forward for the North Central College women’s basketball team
- Cousin, Deshawn Brown, played college football at Lafayette
- Cousin, Dalen Brown, ran track in college.
- Cousin, Luke Pettaway, is a defensive back at Purdue
- Cousin, Brock Pettaway, is a wide receiver at Drake
