Tennessee Logs Four NCAA Top-10 Marks On Friday At Tom Jones, Wake Forest

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Friday's action for Tennessee track & field saw the program produce four season-best performances that rank among the top 10 in the NCAA during the 2026 outdoor season, as UT wrapped up competition at the Wake Forest Invitational in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, California, while opening competition at the Tom Jones Memorial Invitational in Gainesville, Florida.
After providing a strong first leg for UT's 4x100-meter relay the past two weekends, Vol redshirt junior Traunard Folson opened his individual outdoor campaign with a second-place finish in the men's invitational 200-meter dash at the Tom Jones Memorial. His time of 20.36 is tied for third in the NCAA this outdoor season and ranks tied for ninth on UT's all-time outdoor list.
Marc Anthony Ibrahim continued his climb up the national charts in the men's 400-meter hurdles, improving his season-best with a time of 49.53 at Florida. The mark ranks fourth in the country this outdoor season and strengthens his standing as the No. 8 performer in Tennessee history.
In the men's invitational pole vault at Florida, Vol junior Ismaila Sawaneh earned the win after clearing an outdoor personal-best height of 5.70 meters (18-8.25). His mark ranks third in school history and is tied for third in the nation this outdoor season.
At Wake Forest, Lady Vol rookie standout Mary Nyaboke Ogwoka lowered her own Tennessee freshman record in the 1,500 meters with a lifetime-best mark of 4:08.86. The performance placed fifth at the meet while ranking Ogwoka second in UT history and eighth in the NCAA this season.
Vol sophomore Aidan Ifkovits opened Friday's festivities with a third consecutive PR in the men's hammer throw, winning the collegiate section at Florida with a toss of 66.00m (216-6). The mark improved his standing as the No. 7 hammer thrower in school history.
Sophomore distance runner Ethan Edgeworth closed out Friday for the Vols on the West Coast, competing in the second invite heat of the men's 5,000-meter at the Bryan Clay Invitational at 1 a.m. ET Saturday morning. He finished 10th overall with a personal-best time of 13:37.13, making him the No. 3 performer in Tennessee history.
