Eight Vols, Lady Vols Head to Athens for NCAA Zone Championships
March 06, 2026 | Swimming & Diving
ATHENS, Ga. -- Tennessee divers look to punch their ticket to the NCAA Championships this weekend during the 2026 NCAA Zone B Diving Championships held at the Gabrielsen Natatorium at the University of Georgia.
Â
All eight divers will compete in zone championships, which get underway on Sunday, March 8, and conclude Wednesday, March 11. The meet will be streamed on ESPN+, with live results for each event available on DiveMeets.com.
Â
All eight Tennessee divers will compete in at least two events, with six Vols and Lady Vols taking on all three disciplines. On the men's side, Thomas Ciprick, Bennett Greene, Owen Redfearn, Nick Stone, and Frazer Tavener will dive in all three events, while Emma Rhines will do the same on the women's side. Both Lynae Shorter and Desharne Bent-Ashmeil will take on both springboards during the competition.
Â
Nearly 100 divers will compete during the zone championships throughout the week. On the women's side, 11 divers will qualify for NCAAs in the 1-meter, while there will be nine spots available for NCAAs in the 3-meter. In the women's Platform, competitors will be competing for seven spots at the NCAA Championships. The men have eight NCAA spots available in the 1-meter, six in the 3-meter, and seven in the Platform.
Â
The number of open positions for each zone is decided based on how divers from a particular zone perform at NCAAs the season before, meaning results from the 2025 NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships were used to determine the number of positions open for Zone B on each board this season.
Â
Last season, Bennett Greene and Nick Stone each qualified for NCAA Championships in all three events. Greene earned Second Team All-America honors in both the 1-meter and 3-meter at the 2025 NCAA Championships.
Â
Greene comes into zones after collecting three medals at the SEC Championships. Greene won gold in the 1-meter, becoming the first Vol to win the event at SEC Championships since Liam Stone in 2017. Greene also took home silver in the 3-meter and bronze in the Platform. Frazer Tavener also brought home a medal for the Vols at the conference championships, winning the bronze in the 3-meter.
