Strong Relay Performances, School Record, Highlight Day One of NCAA Championships

ATLANTA -- A pair of top 16 relay finishes and a new program record in the 200 Free begin a strong start for the Vols at the 2026 NCAA Men's Swimming & Diving Championships at McAuley Aquatic Center.

The 200 Medley Relay team took ninth place in the event, finishing with a time of 1:22.05. This moved the relay team of Ulises Saravia, Gabe Nunziata, Gui Caribe, and Nikoli Blackman to fifth all-time in program history.

The Vols capped day one of NCAAs by placing 16th overall in the 800 Free Relay with a time of 6:12.29. This marks the first time since 2018 that the Vols have placed in the top 16 in the 800 Free Relay to score in the event. Koby Bujak-Upton swam the opening leg of the relay, shattering the Tennessee 200 Free record with a time of 1:29.79.

Individual events get underway Thursday for Tennessee with the 100 Fly, 200 Free, and 100 Breast. Diving also gets started on Thursday, with the 1-meter diving competition.
