Simpson Named SEC Golfer of the Week
March 25, 2026 | Men's Golf
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Lance Simpson has been named the SEC Men's Golfer of the Week, as announced by the conference on Wednesday afternoon. It marks the first time the redshirt senior has received the honor in his career.
Simpson earned the first individual victory of his prestigious collegiate career at last week's Pauma Valley Invitational, tying for the title at 10-under-par alongside SMU's William Sides. The senior fired three consecutive rounds in the 60s, including an opening round 66 to match his season-low round. In addition to 12 birdies across 36 holes, Simpson also added two eagles on the week to finish as one of just three golfers in the tournament with multiple eagles.
Beyond the individual win, Simpson also led the Vols to a team victory at the Pauma Valley Invitational, tying for first place at 16-under-par alongside No. 20 Georgia Tech. It is a marquee victory for the Tennessee golf program as the tournament field consisted of four of the top five and seven of the top 12 ranked teams in last week's Scoreboard national rankings. With the win, Tennessee moved to No. __ in this week's rankings release.
Simpson and the Vols will return to action next Friday, April 3, as the team begins the Mason Rudolph Championship at Vanderbilt Legends Club in Franklin, Tennessee.
