Lady Vols Sign Katrina Scott for 2026 Dual Season
January 20, 2026 | Women's Tennis
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – University of Tennessee head women's tennis coach Alison Ojeda announced the signing of Katrina Scott on Tuesday. Scott will immediately be eligible to compete and will join the team for the 2026 dual season.
"I'm very excited to welcome Katrina to our Tennessee family," Ojeda said. "Her resume speaks for itself and her impact on Tennessee Tennis is one I'm confident we will be speaking about for years to come."
A native of Los Angeles, the 21-year-old Scott is currently ranked No. 312 in singles by the WTA and has previously reached a high of No. 149. In doubles, she currently slots in at No. 1034 with a career high of No. 552.
"Tennessee has given me the opportunity to grow as a player, student and person," Scott said following her decision to join the Lady Vols. "I'm proud to give everything I have for this program and be able to represent something bigger than myself."
She has previously competed in all four Grand Slam events, including reaching the second round of the U.S. Open Main Draw in 2020 at just 16 years old. Scott has won four professional singles titles and earned one doubles title.
"During this whole process, a few things were very clear to me," Ojeda said. "One, Katrina's education means something to her and her family. And two, Katrina wants to experience playing on a team in the college setting. Both of these desires mean a lot to me.
"The NCAA is changing a lot," Ojeda remarked, "but one thing that remains the same: If you desire an education while competing at a very high level, college athletics is the place for that."
Scott currently boasts a UTR Rating of 11.48 in singles and 10.72 in doubles, with her singles rating making her the world No. 286-ranked singles player by the metric.
Full remarks on the signing from head coach Alison Ojeda, Katrina Scott, associate head coach Robin Goodman, assistant coach Martim Prata and senior Catherine Aulia can be found below.

I'm very excited to welcome Katrina to our Tennessee family. Her resume speaks for itself and her impact on Tennessee Tennis is one I'm confident we will be speaking about for years to come.
I remember the day Martim [Prata] messaged Robin [Goodman] and me to tell us he had just spoken to Katrina and that she was interested in hearing about what we do. Robin and I were very excited, and at the first opportunity, Robin visited her. After spending just a few hours with Katrina and her family, he called me immediately to say she fits our team's culture.
During this whole process, a few things were very clear to me. One, that Katrina's education means something to her and her family and two, that Katrina wants to experience playing on a team, in the college setting. Both of these desires mean a lot to me. The NCAA is changing a lot, but one thing that remains the same is that if you desire an education while competing at a very high level, college athletics is the place for that. Thirdly, our staff works hard to recruit young women who are respectful people. We firmly believe we are playing for something bigger than ourselves, which means we need to be surrounded by others who are willing to give their all to one another and to the University of Tennessee.
These are unprecedented times right now in college sports and we are lucky to be working for an athletic director who believes that Tennessee is "an everything school." I want to thank Danny White, Marshall Steward, JB Bowling and Tyler Johnson for helping to make this possible. I also want to thank our compliance staff for their outstanding work.
We are excited to work towards winning a championship.

Adding Katrina to our program is incredibly special. She brings a rare combination of world-class experience, professionalism and humility, and those qualities will have a great impact on our team. What stood out most throughout this process was her genuine desire to grow, both as a player and as a person. We're excited about the impact she'll have on our culture, our standards and our competitive goals, and we can't wait to get to work with her this spring.

We are incredibly excited to welcome Katrina to our program. She's a great kid, a very high-level player, and someone who is genuinely eager to grow. We can't wait to have her join the Tennessee family and support her as she works toward her goals.

We are so excited to welcome Katrina to the team! She is definitely going to make an immediate impact and help us become a better team to achieve our goals. We are going to show her what it feels like not only to play as part of a team but also as part of a family. I can't wait for her to experience Knoxville and playing in front of the UT fans!
