Vols Wrap Up Play at SEC Championships

ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. - The Tennessee men's golf team wrapped up play at the SEC Championships at Sea Island Golf Club's Seaside course Friday afternoon.
The Vols finished stroke play in 14th place at 9-over. UT's best 18-hole showing came in round three when they pieced together a 278 (-2).
Jackson Herrington was Tennessee's highest finisher and tied for 32nd in his first career SEC Championship after ending the tournament on a high note with a 68. The Dickson, Tennessee, native went 2-under in his final four holes to secure the under-par round.
Redshirt junior Lance Simpson also capped off the event with an under-par score in the third round after logging a 69. Simpson tied for 37th at 1-over overall.
Bruce Murphy finished one shot back of Simpson after a round three 71. Murphy's best round came on Thursday when he posted an even-par 70.
After starting rounds one and two with a pair of 73s, Josh Hill bounced back in the third round with an even-par 70 and tied for 66th.
Freshman Christian Pardue, who subbed in for Evan Woosley-Reed in the final round of stroke play, posted a 71.
The Vols will now begin preparation for NCAA competition. The NCAA Selection Show is set for Wednesday, April 30 at 1 p.m. ET and will air on Golf Channel. NCAA Regionals are scheduled to take place from May 12-14.
